📜 Origin of the Name
The name "Ladrón de Lunas" (Spanish for "Moon Thief") comes from a beautiful and romantic legend associated with the founding of the winery around 1830. According to the story, a young man named Nicolás, the son of a local landowner, secretly built an underground winery and introduced modern French winemaking techniques. He harvested grapes at night, without the moon, in a symbolic act of "stealing moonlight". He was in love with a young widow, but his love was rejected by his family.

🏛️ Historical Journey and Family Tradition
The winery was founded in 1905 by architect Demetrio Ribes, renowned for designing iconic buildings in Valencia.
It was initially modernised in 1949, and in 2007 entrepreneur and winemaker Fernando Martínez Relanzón, a sixth-generation member of the winemaking family, introduced modern technologies and a quality-driven philosophy.
Located in La Portera, in the Utiel-Requena wine region, at an altitude of over 800 metres, the winery benefits from limestone soils and a Mediterranean climate – ideal conditions for growing quality grapes such as Bobal, Macabeo, Chardonnay, Sauvignon and others.

🏆 Awards and Achievements
In 2023, the winery received more than 10 gold medals, including two gold awards from Guía Intervinos, as well as major distinctions for its Vermouth, wines, Mistela and sparkling wines.
It also received awards at PROAVA in 2017, including silver and bronze medals in various Cava categories.

Architectural Heritage – The winery has been restored in the Art Nouveau style by architect Manuel Peris Ferrando, giving it a distinctive character and creating a unique visitor experience.
